Rock Sample is a small linocut I made to explore the shapes, shadows and relationships of the rocks of the alpine landscape at the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellignton. This work was included in the PINK group exhibition in May 2023 in a pink toned colour way. The picture of the framed linocut is the pink variation. But the colours I’ve settled on for the rest of the edition are slightly warmer in tone, with ochres and oranges as well as pinks.
I hand carve lino, and print with oil based printing ink onto Stonehenge paper. Colour is added with watercolour, each piece individually hand painted.
The image size measures 30cm high (12") x 20 cm wide (approx 8 1/4") with the paper larger as shown. Each artwork is signed and numbered with the edition limited to 10. This piece is shipped flat, wrapped in cello and mounted on foam core.
