Copperleaf Snowberry
This is part of an ongoing series of linocuts celbrating the plants and flowers that grow on kunanyi/Mt Wellington, where I live. The Copperleaf Snowberry (Gaultheria Hispida) is endemic to Tasmania and loves the wet forests and alpine woodlands of kunanyi. I love the red stems, the darkest of dark green leaves and the snowy white berries with the pink tips. It’s a striking plant to come across when the berries are out in Autumn.
I hand carve the image into lino, and print with oil based printing ink onto Stonehenge paper. For this series, I've chosen the deep kraft-coloured Stonehenge which gives the piece a warmth and depth. Colour and highlights are added with watercolour, each piece individually hand painted.
The image size measures 30cm high (12") x 20 cm wide (approx 8 1/4") with the paper larger as shown. Each artwork is signed and numbered with the edition limited to 25. This piece is shipped flat, wrapped in cello and mounted on foam core.
