This large hand coloured linocut is the first in a series of linocuts I began during the winter of 2020. Mount Wellington (kunanyi) dominates the landscape of Hobart Tasmania, my hometown. It's familiar shape is the backdrop for life in Australia's most southern city. But up on top of the mountain, a startlingly different landscape is revealed. Almost alien, it is dominated by large boulders and alpine vegetation. The colours and textures of this alpine environment are the subject of this series of linocuts.

Summit 1 measures approximately 50cm (20") wide by 28cm (11") high, not including signature. The paper is slightly larger. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 20. I use oil-based printing ink and print on Stonehenge printmakers paper. Each linocut is hand printed and then individually hand painted with watercolour.

This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
