‘Summit 9, Sheltered’, continues my series of hand painted linocuts inspired by the alpine landscape at the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington. In ‘Sheltered’, I’ve focused on the light and colours of summer in the plant life that finds shelter among the rocks. The variety and complexity is amazing when you consider the extreme conditions faced by these plants. I wonder if the harshness of the environment accentuates their beauty.
This large linocut measures approximately 30cm (12") wide by 50cm (20") high, not including signature. The paper is larger still, as pictured. Each print is numbered and signed with this being an edition of 25. I print using oil-based printing ink on Stonehenge printmakers paper. Each linocut is then individually hand painted with watercolour.
This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
