Summit 12, Pan
‘Summit 12, Pan’ is the largest single-block linocut I’ve done at over 1 meter wide. The idea for the piece began in 2021 and took more than 18 months to bring to life. This piece was shortlisted for the Burnie Print Prize 2023, a national juried print prize.
In mythology, Pan is the god of the wilderness. ‘Pan’ is also a term for taking a wide view, and seeing a great expanse of landscape. The word ‘pan’ also makes you think of Peter Pan, defying time, which I felt seemed to fit this piece as well. Somewhere in the mix of these ideas is the motivation for this piece, a grand gesture to try to express the complexity and breadth of the kunanyi summit.
I started this piece with the intention of doing an edition of 15, but due to the block being damaged, there are only 7 prints available. Prints will be painted to order and will take around 2 weeks to complete. Please allow extra time for delivery due to the lengthy painting process.
This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
