Summit 4, Scoparia
"Summit 4, Scoparia” is the fourth in my current series of linocuts exploring the otherworldly landscape at the summit of Mount Wellington. Mount Wellington (kunanyi) dominates the landscape of Hobart Tasmania, my hometown. It's familiar shape is the backdrop for life in Australia's most southern city, but up on top of the mountain a startlingly different landscape is revealed. Almost alien, it is dominated by monumental boulders and alpine vegetation. In “Summit 4” the Scoparia flowers are blooming in the foreground. The late afternoon sun is making the rocks glow and deepening the colour of the shadows.
This large linocut measures approximately 30cm (12") wide by 50cm (20") high, not including signature. The paper is larger still, as pictured. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 25. I print using oil-based printing ink on Stonehenge printmakers paper. Each linocut is then individually hand painted with watercolour.
Medium: Hand Painted Linocut
Edition Size: 25
Artwork Size: 30cm w x 50cm h
