Summit 6 is another in a series of linocuts in my Summit Series. Mount Wellington (kunanyi) dominates the landscape of Hobart Tasmania, my hometown. The colours and textures of this unique alpine environment at the top of the mountain are the subject of this series of linocuts. In Summit 6, the sun is low on the wintery horizon making shadows deep and colours rich. A mist comes up behind the ridge line, and minutes later, the view will be obscured.
Summit 6 measures approximately 60cm (24") wide by 30cm (12") high, not including signature. The paper is slightly larger. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 25. I use oil-based printing ink and print on Stonehenge printmakers paper. Each linocut is hand printed and then individually hand painted with watercolour.
This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
