‘Summit 11, Swell’ is part of my series of hand painted linocuts exploring the alpine environment at the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Swelling seeds inside the flowers, the flowing lines of the rocks, it all has the feel of the busy reproductive work of nature in summer. The seeds are held until they swell fully and then they’re released to find a crevice or sheltered spot in the soil in the hopes of germinating. In winter these plants have empty open seed pods where those flowers have been - the passage of time, the cycle of life. Hold and release.

This large linocut measures approximately 30cm (12") wide by 50cm (20") high, not including signature. The paper is larger still, as pictured. Each print is numbered and signed with this being an edition of 25. I print using oil-based printing ink on Stonehenge printmakers paper. Each linocut is then individually hand painted with watercolour.

This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
