"Summit 5” is one of my ongoing series of linocuts exploring the landscape at the summit of Mount Wellington/kunanyi. The mountain dominates the skyline of Hobart Tasmania, my hometown. Up on top of the mountain a startlingly different landscape is revealed. Almost alien, it is dominated by monumental boulders and alpine vegetation. In “Summit 5”, its late afternoon and the light is fading. Rocks and vegetation catch the last rays of the sun, intensifying the colour, while some of the shapes seem to sink into inky pools of deep shadow.

This large linocut measures approximately 30cm (12") wide by 40cm (16") high, not including signature. The paper is larger still, as pictured. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 25. I print using oil-based printing ink on Stonehenge printmakers paper. Each linocut is then individually hand painted with watercolour.

This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
