"Summit 3, Dusk" and is the third in a series of hand painted linocuts exploring the alpine environment at the summit of Mount Wellington /kunanyi. The mountain’s familiar shape is the backdrop for life in Hobart Tasmania, my hometown. But up on top of the mountain, a startlingly different landscape is revealed. Almost alien, it is dominated by monumental boulders and alpine vegetation. In Summit 3, the sun has set and the lingering light makes the rocks glow pink. I loved the shapes, textures and colours of the plants as they rise to meet the rocks. I tried to capture the colours in the low light of dusk.

I carve the lino to create the printing block. I print using oil-based printing on Stonehenge printmakers paper. Each linocut is hand printed and then individually hand painted with quality watercolours. It measures approximately 30cm (12") wide by 30cm (12") high, not including signature. The paper is larger still, as pictured. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 20.

This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
